MUSC 129. American Society and Its Music. Introduction, through reading, discussion, taped assignments in the Music Department listening center, live music in the classroom, and outside live listening assignments, to all significant manifestations of American music, their roots, and their place in American life. Includes folk, religious, popular, jazz, and fine-art music. Prerequisite: GWAR Certification before Fall 09, or WPJ score of 80+, or C or higher grade in ENGL 109M/W, or (C- grade in ENGL 109 M/W or WPJ score 70/71 and ENGL 109X co-requisite).
