ART 133. Understanding and Creating Art. Intended for non-Art majors who are preparing to become elementary school teachers in California, providing subject matter study in art appropriate for grades 1 - 6. Students will learn the components and strands of visual arts education found in the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework. Students will explore five major areas: artistic perception, creative expression, historical and cultural contexts, aesthetic valuing, and the connections and relationships between the visual arts and other disciplines. Fee course. Prerequisite: Upper division status; declared major in Child Development, Liberal Studies, or Blended Liberal Studies. Graded: Graded Student. Units: 3.0.
